An announcement: Today, we’re putting on our creative fundraiser, RE-PRODUCTION at The Marylebone Theatre. It’s a charity event with proceeds donated to MSI choices and Fertility Network UK. Both charities work across both NHS and private sectors to ensure safe, supported reproductive choices are available to all who need access to them.
The event features a showcase of new writing (poetry, prose and theatre extracts) all performed by a company of professional actors. I’m really excited!

Obsession
Girls.
Lena Dunham. I think that she may be the voice of our generation? Or a voice of a generation?
She IS the cushion.
The end of S2 near enough ruined me. Hannah is the most lovable, problematic human. Adam’s arc. Wow.
I cannot stop watching this show.
Confession
I started Intermezzo.
And so far…
I’m only 3% of the way through. Sally Rooney is a talented writer…I know her books are slow burners. I’m willing to persist.
TBC.
Shook
Our talented cast and director for RE-PRODUCTION.
I dropped in to rehearsals this week and saw this event coming to life. Our cast are extremely talented; our director is absolutely stand-out. The writing is emotionally nuanced, honest and incredibly moving. Tears were welling in the walk-through, so I’m expecting tonight to be extra special.
This is a project so incredibly close to me and my fellow my co-producers’ hearts. We hope we open up a conversations around important topics through events like this. This is extra pertinent given US election happening next week. That said, this stuff has been relevant for decades and it will be for many more to come.
Get involved. Join the conversation.
Cook
Pumpkin risotto.
This week, I Cinderella-fairy-godmother’d it. I turned a pumpkin into something magical: autumnal risotto. Rough recipe steps.
Cut a small pumpkin into halves and scoop out the inside (God, those things are hard to cut aren’t they!? No wonder they’re a horror hallmark; many close calls near chopping off a hand!) Keep a few cubes of pumpkin back for garnishing.
Roast your pumpkin with a whole garlic bulb and some onions in the oven with salt, pepper and thyme.
Let it cool, scoop out the insides and then add to blender with oat cream, the onions and the soft garlic cloves (minus the peel, obviously) Blitz until a smooth, pale orange puree.
Chuck half a chopped shallot and soften with olive oil. Add your risotto rice and stock. Keep stirring. When stock is boiled off, add your pumpkin puree. Top up with additional stock if needs be.
Cook until risotto rice is soft with a small but of bite left. Top with toasted pine nuts, crushed chilli, roasted cubes of pumpkin and crispy sage leaves.
Book
Intermezzo by Sally Rooney.
As I said, no mezzo-mania happening over here (yet).
Can’t Stop Scanning
Did I mention I had become obsessed with Girls?
