Hello, thank you, and welcome. I love you for being here!
Add to List is my Sunday round-up. It’s the small things that brought me joy, evoked an emotional reaction or became some short-lived stability in the past seven days.
Obsession
Mad About the Boy.
A perfect round off. Pitch perfect Bridget. Even better Daniel Cleaver (exactly how he would have aged in a disgustingly, lovable way).
Heart-breaking, heart-warming, horny, hilarious.
Confession
This is late — I am sorry.
This is late because I’ve been at a ‘work’ dinner, drinking cocktails. I took my mum as my special +1 and she was THE BEST company. And, it was technically work for a write-up — so I hope you’ll forgive me?
In fact, the general theme of this week has been bad time-keeping. I have been late for pretty much everything I’ve been too (apart from a job interview and a teaching gig — those I was early for).
I have regularly arrived cold from a frazzled Lime bike fiasco. Cold hands, frazzled soul, but still a warm heart. Perhaps I’m finally straying from my claims in this post.
Shook
How SAD Bridget Jones was.
Whilst it was the perfect ending — it was DESPERATELY sad. I was not mentally prepared. Honestly, cried straight for 2 hours? Loved it. But I need serious electrolytes to replace my tears. Pass me the Dioralyte.
Look
Cardigans.
Inspired by the woman of the hour herself. Cardigans are IN. This one in particular is a low-price, high-wear option which I have just purchased as a post-invoice treat.
Cook
Coconut soup and coconut curries.
This week I made a coconut, cannellini bean and squash soup. It was fine; a good way to use up a bunch of ingredients on the turn — but honestly nothing special.
For better coconut-tinged descriptions of inserting palette amusements, I’d recommend a read of my recent review of Kolamba East.
Book
Mezcla by Ixta Belfrage.
I’ve been thinking about the prawn lasagne all week. I made it once and thought about how strange and innovative it was. Partly, my Italian ancestors would be turning in their grave, but I think it’s a work of genius too. Time to give it another whirl.
Can’t Stop Scanning
The library catalogue.
This week, I went full Matilda (my childhood iconl) and got myself a library card. I cannot stop reviewing the selection? There’s SO much to choose from!? Books (in all formats). Plus multiple newspapers and magazines. FOR FREE? Not sure why I ever purchased a book before? God bless the library gods.
Forward Planning
Write-ups and read ups.
I’ve got a few upcoming deadlines to work one. My first shoot this week tomorrow for a cover feature.
There’s an upcoming Substack meet up which
and I have been busy planning— follow for updates soon)AND maybe — for those nosy paid subscribers — this went well (despite me being quite late). Perhaps another date, and next time I’ll be on time, but let’s not tempt fate shall we…
Urgh Bridget Jones made my entire weekend!!! Simply no notes
i looooved the new BJ!!!
