Hello, thank you, and welcome. I love you for being here!
Add to List is my Sunday round-up. It’s the small things that brought me joy, evoked an emotional reaction, or became some short-lived stability in the past seven days.
Obsession
These shoes.
Somewhere between chic Euro-summer slingback and medieval BDSM torture device, these shoes were born. I love them.
And much like a medieval torture device, I refuse to unshackle them from my body until someone pays me my ransom.
Confession
Lex and I have postponed our Writers IRL meet-up for the summer.
Not because we don’t love our community (honestly we do) but because, life. And we’ll be back with a bang come September. Back to school energy, and all that.
More updates over on
Shook
'Curve high-waist jeans’
Could someone please explain to me how these are any of the above? Skinnytok is real, man.
Cook
Homemade Itsu pots.
This week I’ve been doing invention tests with whatever was left in the fridge before going away.
But, to make it a bit more exciting I had some help from ITSU. Tesco are doing a great ‘Itsu at home deal’ at the moment which includes broth, noodles (the really good ones), and gyozas. So, I took to recreating those delicious pots that too often steal all my money at lunch time. And the best bit? When making it at home you can customise with glee at no additional charge.
Plus, their crispy chilli oil is still winning condiment of the moment for me. It’s also fantastic on scrambled eggs.
Book
Following last week’s bumper posting and book review, I’ve got very little to say about reading this week. However, when browsing in a bookshop this week, I spotted The Names, a debut novel of parallel storylines interrogating how our simple labelling might impact our life trajectory. I wrote about names a very long time ago around starting this newsletter. Here’s one from the archives…
Look
It’s giving: menswear
I got dressed up on Tuesday to celebrate Square Mile Magazine’s 200th Edition up The Shard. You know, I until this week I’d never been despite living in London for well over 10 years? Anyway, it was fun; the hangover not so much.
Can’t Stop Scanning
ALL THE CLOTHES.
I went down a fashion hole this week in preparation for a trip to Paris. It’s a city famed for being sophisticated and chic, I feel it’s a duty to be well-dressed when visiting.
Also, I forgot how addictive shopping is? Once you decide you’re looking for an item (in this case, white jeans) They are EVERYWHERE but in SO many variations. The overwhelm is real.
p.s. did find some white jeans, had a between sizes nightmare, ended up having them altered, now unsure if I like them after all, we move.
Forward Planning
As this very newsletter is on it’s way to you, I am somewhere on my way to King’s Cross and about to board the Eurostar to Paris.
There’s nothing more successful feeling than a ride on the Eurostar, is there? The liquids! The luggage allowance! The glass of champagne in a nice bar before leaving! It’s far cry from Ryanair’s scratch card announcement, and a hell of a lot more glamorous than the Avanti West Coast train toilet experience (and those awful doors you’re never sure if you’ve locked correctly).
